RIMEâ„¢ Guides
Supporting Children | Empowering Parents
Every Chatter Box includes RIMEâ„¢ guides that outline how you can use RIME and the toys, activities and books, to support your toddler to achieve their speech and language milestones.
Developed by the 123 Kids Talk team experts, RIMEâ„¢ Guides empower parents with practical strategies alongside targeted support for their toddler’s speech and language development.Â
Respond
Means noticing and acknowledging ALL the ways your toddler tries to communicate; their words, babbles, sounds, and even gestures! Your focus is engagement and connection.
Imitate
Imitate means being your child's echo! When they babble a sound, you say it back in a clear way to show you are responding to their communication. Their attempt will not always be perfect so this is your chance to repeat it with proper pronunciation.
Model
Involves being your toddler's tour guide to the world of communication! Modelling means taking their cues and adding the words that accompany their cues (i.e. gestures, vocalisations and attempts at words and sentences). It’s helping them build their expressive language and understanding.Â
Expand
Think of Expand as building a bridge between your child's current communication and more complex language. When your toddler says a word or phrase, you "expand" it by adding more information.
